oh hi gang… been a minute.

verrrry ultra excited to report that I played organ on the #1 box office movie “FORD V FERRARI” and piano and celeste on the original songs from next week’s release “FROZEN II.” (have you heard of this Frozen franchise?). the new Vox Continental played a vital role in the Ford V. Ferrari score, and composer Buck Sanders really got into the nitty gritty of this super cool instrument. (we admittedly used some actual B3 as well!)

wrapping up 2019 which has been an exciting one. just made a record with the ridiculously talented Steven Brault, a fastball pitcher from the Pittsburgh Pirates who can really belt! thanks to Loren Harriet for putting it together and to Tim Pierce for organizing a super stellar band- Lee Sklar, Kenny Aronoff, Vinnie Colaiuta… what a week.

got the chance to visit the masters of mastering and the ones responsible for making “El Musico” sounds as “meaty” as it does… the brilliant Caspar at Gearbox in London. after visiting I’m CONVINCED it’s the most incredible mastering house I’ve ever experienced. if any of you are making a record, check these guys out- their gear is vintage and LEGIT and super clean and the guys working there are dedicated pros to say the least.

I can’t go without saying what a tremendous job the great Justin Stanley did recording most of “El Musico” and mixing the whole record. his instincts are bananas and the sounds he gets INSTANTLY are mind blowing. he’s also just recorded and mixed Dan Rosenboom’s upcoming record, which is bonkers (and which I co-produced). his studio in North Hollywood is a wonderland and he is a special cat with a special set of ears.

look for deets regarding a residency at The Record Parlour Aug-Sept. the plan is to mash up two unrelated albums and play them live— called MOLTEN WAX MONDAZE. will post the details soon.

also— played piano on the new #1 TOY STORY 4 score for Randy Newman. was an absolute thrill.
